PAST RECIPIENTS STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
PURPOSE: The Women’s Forum of the University System of Maryland
(USM) recognizes and fosters the achievements of all students within the
System through the provision of awards to promote research, education and
professional development. Specifically, the Women’s Forum Scholarship
Program provides monetary awards to eligible undergraduate and graduate
students currently enrolled in an USM institution.
“The Women's Forum scholarship is open to any person regardless of
sex, race, color, religion, age, national origin, sexual orientation,
marital status, veteran status or disability.”
All student scholarships and faculty research awarded by the foundation
are available to men and women.
AWARDS: $500 scholarships will be awarded for the academic year.
ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for scholarship consideration,
applicants must:
- Submit a completed application form to their campus representative
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States
- Be currently enrolled in an USM institution
- Have completed 48 or more undergraduate credits or 9 graduate level
credits
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.8
- Document short and long-term educational and career goals (see:
Personal Statement)
- Provide evidence of financial need (see: Personal Statement)
* Preferred candidates will:
- Be residents of the state of Maryland
- Be pursuing educational and career goals that focus on the social,
economic, political, scientific, and health conditions that impact
women.
APPLICATION MATERIALS: All application packets must include the following documents:
- Women's Forum Scholarship Application
- Personal Statement
- Copies of official transcripts
- Copies of federal tax statements or financial aid statements for the previous two years.
Note: It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the application packet is
complete. Applications without the required information will not be considered.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Completed applications along with supporting documentation
must be received no later than June 30.
Aggour Student Scholarship
Christine Aggour believes in the value of
education, the Women’s Forums
efforts and putting her money where her mouth is! In 2004 the Aggour
Student Scholarship was established to help ensure that the needs of the
students are continually met. Through her efforts the forum was able to
offer student scholarships this year. We commend her efforts and
appreciate her for providing such an opportunity. |
